Troubleshooting Monitor Selection in ControlUp Settings

A user was having trouble selecting a monitor in the Settings - the solution was to add a monitor through the console tree, connect to it, then go back and the monitor should appear. Addressing a Tenable Finding for ControlUp Agent Manager Service at ControlUp

A Tenable finding involving the ControlUp Agent Manager Service was discussed. A new agent manager was built and tested in order to address the issue. A link to the new agent manager was provided, and one member offered to test it out. A user also asked if the permission change was necessary, and the new version of the agent manager showed that the issue was fixed. The agent manager was eventually to be deployed within 24 hours. The Tenable finding was requested to be rerun to confirm if it was resolved.

Automating Server Reboots for Monitored URLs with Scoutbees and ControlUp API

The discussion revolved around automating the process of rebooting a server that is being monitored using Scoutbees. Various suggestions were made, such as using the API to check alerts on an interval, running a custom hive, and using EdgeDX or RTDX. It was suggested that a user feedback item should be created for this feature. Building a Sentiment Survey with ControlUp

A user was building a sentiment survey and wanted to target a specific user group in AD. However, the picker did not show the desired group. A feature that allows for saving drafts was also mentioned. The team discussed upcoming updates that would address these concerns and potentially provide early access to the new version. The surveys are delivered through the Edge DX Agent to the endpoint and the listed AD groups are based on users who have logged into the machines. A team member offered to add the user to the beta for Sentiment V2. If interested, the user can send their contact details and tenant information.

Understanding Edge DX Agent’s Location Data Accuracy and Privacy Concerns for ControlUp Users

Location data from Edge DX agent seems to be inconsistent, with devices reporting in different locations than their physical location. It was suggested that the agent uses the WAN IP, provided by the ISP, which can be inaccurate. Some users suggest enabling location services on the endpoint for more accurate data. However, there may be privacy concerns with this feature. ControlUp's support site provides information on how to customize locations based on IP ranges.

Tracking Blue Screen Events in ControlUp

A user asked if it is possible to see when the blue screens appeared on the "Top Devices with Blue Screen Events" report in ControlUp. Another user suggested checking the Power and Session Events report, which includes a search function for device name and "BSOD" event type. A screenshot provided shows 4 events, but some may be duplicated. The recent Agent beta allows for capturing blue screens using WER files. A user suggested adding the information on when the blue screens occurred as a hover feature in the "Top Devices with Blue Screen Events" report. ControlUp will consider this suggestion.

Changes to ControlUp Support Site: Where is the “Create Ticket” Button?

ControlUp Logs and Syslog Functionality for Edge DX Users.

A user asked about Syslog functionality for ControlUp logs on their SIEM tool, as they are exclusive users of Edge DX. Another user suggested using API's to extract logs, and mentioned the use of a cloud-hosted Splunk. They also discussed Windows event logs on endpoints, with event IDs for remote control/shadow and shell sessions. Mac logs are kept separately, and can be accessed through a specific command. An event staffer confirmed the information.
