Troubleshooting VDI Access in ControlUp One

There was a discussion on an issue with accessing VDI in ControlUp One after disabling certain log in method. It was suggested to check permissions and add DEX user to Controlup admins. Another option is to enable the "sign in to VDI... with LDAP" checkbox. Possible solution is detailed in the article https://support.controlup.com/docs/vdi-daas-authentication-methods. Suggestions were given to check C:\windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\ControlUp\cuMonitor.log for monitor name that handled the request.

Troubleshooting Changes in ControlUp Audit Log

Multiple users noticed changes being made in the audit log, even though they did not make any changes themselves. After troubleshooting, they found that the Edge DX page's filter was causing the log to inaccurately track changes. It is suggested to open a ticket and there might be a fix with the 2.16 agent. The upcoming agent can be expected to improve this issue.

Sending Email Alerts for ControlUp Folder Event Messages

The team discussed how to send an informational email alert when an event is triggered within the ControlUp folder. Different members offered their expertise and suggestions, including using the ControlUp Academy, creating a Windows Event Trigger, and incorporating a PowerShell script to format the email's body. Ultimately, the team concluded that ControlUp does not allow triggering actions based on informational events, but recommendations were made to run a scheduled trigger or use task scheduler to execute the script at regular intervals.

How to Kill a Process in a User Session with ControlUp

Using Windows Event Based Triggers for Automated Actions in ControlUp

A user asked about the possibility of passing text/fields from a Windows event log message as arguments for a script action using the Windows event based trigger. Another user noted that this is not currently possible but can potentially be implemented in the future. They provided a link to a support document and explained how to access the necessary information using a sample event based object. Another user suggested using this feature for automated actions based on specific error criteria. Another option is to use built-in actions like reset VM which utilize the ControlUp service account for the hypervisor. ControlUp Academy may have more resources on this topic.

Creating Triggers in ControlUp for Outlook Inbox Monitoring

A user inquired about creating a trigger for Outlook Inbox on a server, and received a response suggesting the use of ControlUp to run a script using PowerShell and the Outlook COM Object. The script would then check and report the number of items in the Inbox. An example code was also provided. This solution was provided by Yoni and can be implemented through ControlUp.

High CPU Usage on macOS Sequoia from CoreAgent – ControlUp Community Discussion and Support

Multiple users reported experiencing high CPU usage on macOS Sequoia from /usr/local/com.controlup.edgedx.agent/Bin/CoreAgent. The issue has been observed on a variety of macOS versions, and restarting the device only temporarily resolves it. A ticket has been opened with CU support, and users are discussing the issue in the community. Some have seen similar issues with earlier agent versions, but it has since been fixed.

ControlUp API and Running Scripts on Offline Devices

A question was asked about using the ControlUp API to run scripts on an offline device. Another user responded that this is not possible and the device must be online for the script to run. However, the API does queue up requests for offline devices, with a short time limit of 1 minute. This is not intended as a cache, but rather to account for devices only checking in every minute. Therefore, it is not necessary to filter out offline devices in API calls.

Issues with Two Monitors Cycling after Upgrading to 9.0.5
