Tips for Setting Up Outlook Search with FSLogix in ControlUp

Posted on August 21, 2023

After an interesting webinar about ControlUp/FSLogix, an user asked if Office Containers in combination with Citrix UPM would be ok for setting up Outlook search with FSLogix. They were told to disable FSLogix RoamSearch for both Profile Container and Office Containers and make sure that Search Indexing are properly configured, as some EUC solutions modify these settings on installation. Additional advice was given to check Citrix policies. The user is setting up 3 tests environments to test the different solutions.

Hello, a quick questions after the very interesting webinar ControlUp/FSLogix.

We are still all on premise but Teams.

. I understand from the webinar that only the Profile container is recommended.

But I am asked to setup Outlook search with FSLogix. Is it ok to keep UPM and use only the Office Container in that case for a quick win? (ref Carl Stalhod’s FSLogix paragraph…)

Thanks in advance, cheers.

You can use ODFC here, yep.

What version of Windows are you using? Windows 10 and later as well as Windows Server 2019 and later have an updated search engine that doesn’t require FSLogix’ Outlook search anymore.

@member we’re using W10 21h2 and server 2019 1809. Thanks

In this case, disable FSLogix RoamSearch for both Profile Container and Office Container as the built-in Windows search does what you want. Make sure that Search and Indexing are properly configured in Outlook as some EUC solutions modify these settings on installation.

Oh, you don’t have Profile Containers, you only have Office Containers in combination with Citrix UPM. But still, disable FSLogix RoamSearch.

Check the Citrix policies to make sure there is none that disables Outlook Search and Indexing or disables Outlook Cached Exchange Mode

Thanks @member, we are setting up 3 tests environments, one with only FSLogix profiles, one with only Office profiles and one with the windows search only.
