Tracking Unused Desktop Pools in Solve with ControlUp

A user asked about tracking unused desktop pools in Solve – ControlUp offers a Session Count report which tracks usage over time and allows the user to look back for up to a year. The report provides quick insight into usage of Desktop Pools. An additional option is to setup a trigger to log users off after a set time of inactivity.

Is there a good way in Solve to track which desktop pools are not being used anymore? I have a feeling that some pools are not being used … I have a few where i cant kick off disconnected sessions and i have a feeling they just left themselves logged but not really using them


You can setup a trigger if a session is idle or disconnected for X amount of hours to log the user off the machine.


Hi @member, so… assuming you have the sync script enabled, each Desktop Pool exists as a ControlUp Folder, which means you can use the Session Count report to quickly see the Desktop Pool usage over time.

for example, this is a “live” Desktop Pool called “cuxdprod19”

Here I am looking back on 7 days, but I can look back for a month or even a year

here is a classic unused Desktop Pool:

this is the same for Horizon or Citrix…
