Troubleshooting Client-Side Errors in Citrix Applications with ControlUp

Posted on April 17, 2024

A user asks about monitoring client-side errors when launching Citrix applications, and another suggests using ControlUp to trigger alerts for this issue. There is a question about including the application name in email alerts, but it seems this is not possible with current template variables. Other members may have creative solutions to this issue.

Read the entire ‘Troubleshooting Client-Side Errors in Citrix Applications with ControlUp’ thread below:

Is there a way to monitor when a Citrix application fails to launch on the client-side due to a wrong file location, working directory, etc? This type of error does not show up on the Delivery Controller or Storefront event logs from what I can tell.

We recently migrated to Server 2019 and Chrome is installed into a different file location so the published application, which uses Chrome, had a different file location than it did on Server 2016.

Should be an error event on VDA in Application log. So should be easy to trigger in ControlUp 😉

Created, thanks!

@member Quick question – is there anyway to include the published application name in the email alert? I tried $(InitialProgram) and that did not work.

According to the following docs article $(InitialProgram) can only be used in User Logged On and User Logged Off triggers, so Not with Event.

Maybe @member and/or @member have some Creative ideas!?

Time for the super triggers…

Edit:

With $(EventFullMsg) you have a Little more than the Name but Maybe its enough!?

Thanks!

You’d have to parse the event log message like Markus suggests. Most events are just flat text messages for ControlUp
