A user posted a question about a missing filter option in the Session activity report and troubleshooting why the client IP is not showing. Others chimed in with potential causes and solutions, such as checking for changes in RDP secure gateway, thin clients, and the API. The issue seems to be a bug with the initial client IP column.

Is there a reason a filter option is missing from a column in the Session activity report?
Also, any tips on how to troubleshoot why the client IP is not populating?
As far as I’m aware, Windows doesn’t determine the client IP. It gets told by the client what its client IP is.
Imagine a HTTP server. Instead of looking at a requests origin, it gets the client IP from the HTTP request content instead.
Why does that matter? Because some clients and some gateways will strip out the client IP address. In the past this was a problem with an RDP secure gateway for example.
OK, this is a Omnissa VDI environment with Igel thin clients. I normally see the Igel IP address. In this Org, I’m only seeing it for 1 Igel and for others I see 0.0.0.0
I’ll keep looking. Something has changed. I am looking at other ORGs and seeing similar. 0.0.0.0 instead of the thin client IP.

Documentation on what I mentioned.
I’m looking to report on user sessions for remote employees. I’ll have to look for a different way to accomplish this.
The data is definitely in ControlUp.
I have a ticket open and am working with support. I welcome other solutions.
Is the API an option?
Looks like it’s a bug with the initial client IP column.
It seems our demo environment has the same issue.
Paul’s client IP is clearly there from the start. But initial client IP is showing 0.0.0.0 in the header at the top
I’ll work thru this Ticket
thx!
