Troubleshooting vGPU Metrics with ControlUp

A discussion took place about vGPU metrics and how they differ depending on whether Windows or Nvidia API is used for data collection. One member asked for tips on making data collection via Nvidia API work and another member suggested checking for the installation of NVIDIA WMI and restarting the ControlUp agent after switching. Best Practices for Upgrading ControlUp Agents

Users discussed the agent upgrade process for ControlUp version 9.0.0.1680, sharing that it is recommended to stop the ControlUp agent service on all machines before upgrading. This is more likely to result in a successful first try, compared to upgrading 20 or more agents at once.

ControlUp Latest GA Version for MacOS: Missing Features and Solutions

A user installed the latest GA version of ControlUp for MacOS and did the initial config for screensharing and admin control. However, they were unable to see any Installed Applications, Missing Patches, or Power Events using DEX on a Windows PC. Another user confirmed that these features should be available, and checked with a Mac developer to clarify. It turns out that Missing Patches and Installed Applications reports are not available for MacOS, and a UserVoice feature request can be helpful. The Installed Apps report supports MacOS with the latest 2.14 agent version, while only Power Events is missing. A Mac developer will be consulted for more information and the documentation will be updated.

macOS WiFi Issue with ControlUp 2.14 Agent

Some users have reported not being able to see the WiFi AP name on macOS devices with the 2.14 agent. This issue is being addressed in the latest release of the agent, 2.14.0.1770 (RC2), and ControlUp is working on a fix before the 2.14 GA.

Can ControlUp provide an online repository for agents to access files?

A question was asked about whether ControlUp has an online repository for agents to access files over the internet. The team clarified that they do not offer such a service, but suggested reposting in the #controlup-secure-dx channel for further discussion. Understanding DEX User Session Details – Explaining CPU Utilization Percentage Breakdowns

A discussion about the DEX User Session Details reports showing 2 lines on the CPU graph - 1 for computer % utilization and 1 for user %. The user was asking for clarification on what these percentages mean. Another user explained that the user % represents the portion of the CPU utilized by apps launched by the user and their desktop, while the computer % also accounts for the resources needed to keep the OS running. The discussion also touched on how these percentages are broken down on a VM with multiple CPUs assigned and the use of "host machine" in the description. It was mentioned that the computer % will also factor in the usage of other users and system processes on multi-user systems.

Using Zscaler with ControlUp

It was mentioned that a fix for websockets connections may be necessary, and there is a KB article for issues with ISP name lookup. It was suggested to clarify which Zscaler solution is being used, as some features may require additional allowlisting for scripts to run. Troubleshooting Connection Server Active Connections in ControlUp Desktop Console

A user asked for help locating "HZ Connection Server Active Connections" in the ControlUp desktop console to create a trigger, but it was not available. ControlUp support confirmed it as an internal property and suggested a workaround by creating a trigger on a different metric and then modifying the filter xml to replace it with "HzTotalConnections".
