ControlUp and .Net Runtime 6: Is it needed?

A discussion took place about the usage of .Net Runtime 6 within ControlUp products. It was mentioned that it went end of life in November and may be embedded with the agent manager or needs to be installed separately. The impact of removing .Net 6.0 was discussed and it was noted that it may affect the logon manager or agent manager. It was also mentioned that there are two available options on the download site.

Installing Real-Time Agent on Monitor Server for Stress Level Calculation

A user asked if it was possible and recommended to install the real-time agent on a monitor server to run a stress level calculation script. Another user confirmed that this is possible and recommended. However, when attempting to run the "ControlUp Stress Calculator v2 Metrics Explorer (Draft)" script, an error occurred stating that a required module was not found. Tracking Shutdown/Reboot Times with ControlUp Edge DX

A user asked if there's a way to use ControlUp Edge DX to track slow shutdown/reboot times. The ControlUp agent stops collecting data once a computer starts shutting down, so currently there is no way to track this in real time. However, there is a possibility of adding functionality for this in the future.

Troubleshooting Changes in ControlUp Audit Log

Multiple users noticed changes being made in the audit log, even though they did not make any changes themselves. After troubleshooting, they found that the Edge DX page's filter was causing the log to inaccurately track changes. It is suggested to open a ticket and there might be a fix with the 2.16 agent. The upcoming agent can be expected to improve this issue.

They hope to create a resource that can be shared with all users to maximize the tool's value. Understanding Machine Categories in ControlUp

A user asked for clarification on the different categories of "machines" shown in ControlUp, specifically the difference between All, Agent, VM, and Horizon machines. Another user chimed in to confirm the understanding and offer assistance with future exam questions. The original user also mentioned the challenge of creating custom dashboards on Insights. Understanding the “Public DNS Name” Setting in ControlUp Monitor

Another user explained that this parameter is used for deploying a monitor using powershell, particularly for monitors in Azure or AWS. Securing Laptops with ControlUp and other Options

It was also suggested to use MDM or Intune for this purpose, but it was noted that a script will not run if the agent cannot communicate with the device.
