A user asked for assistance in managing Azure Virtual Desktop session hosts in the ControlUp console. They have installed the ControlUP monitor and agent on a virtual machine in Azure, but the status remains unmanaged for the AVD session hosts. Other Azure metrics are visible. A suggestion was made to test communication on port 40705 and to use the "install-cuagent" cmdlet with a dex api key for self-registration. Helpful links and instructions were provided.

Hi,
On a virtual machine in Azure, I have the ControlUP monitor and agent running for all on-premises servers that operate in Azure.
In the ControlUP console, I’ve also added cloud connections for Azure Virtual Desktop. Here, I can see a number of machines listed, but they are marked as unmanaged. I understand that an agent needs to be installed on these as well. As straightforward as it sounds, I can’t seem to get these AVD session hosts managed in the console.
I do see the default Azure metrics, such as total costs, but the status remains unmanaged. Could you help guide me in the right direction? It concerns a hybrid-joined AVD session host.
Thanks in advance!
Test that tbe monitor can communicate with the machine in azure over port 40705. Also I assume they are not windows 365 machines as communication is different
if 40705 is not possible but the machines can communicate over 443 to the monitor and the required ports in the cloud you can try to use the install-cuagent cmdlet with the dex api key so they self register in the console https://support.controlup.com/v1/docs/install-cuagent-install-an-agent
