Obtaining a ControlUp License for a Test Environment
A user asked if they could obtain a license for a test environment when they already had a production license. They were informed that a free trial license can be obtained with a new org. If the test environment is on the same domain of the production, they can just use a separate org for the same license. If the test environment is on a different domain, they would need to contact the sales team with their query. They were also informed about the Expert Program at https://www.controlup.com/products/controlup/expertprogram/, which they can get in touch with @member about.

ControlUp Licensing and License Pooling
The user asked about ControlUp licenses - there are concurrent licenses based on the number of opened sessions, and pooling is used to keep track of license usage. For VDI, licenses are counted for each powered on machine. More information on this can be found in the pricing page on the ControlUp website (https://www.controlup.com/pricing/).

Missing “Client Device Score” icon in ControlUp Solve?
Members discussed the issue of not seeing Client Device Score in ControlUp Solve, and why metrics like Client Wi-Fi Signal, Lan Latency, Total Session Latency, and Internet Latency indicate the score. They concluded that Remote DX must be installed on the endpoints and the registry values need to be deployed. Members also noted that 3rd party software can be tricky with virtual channels, and that the default MSTSC rdp client should be used. Support ticket can be created at support@controlup.com.

How to give access to ControlUp insights without giving access to the Controlup Console
The discussion considered what options are available for providing access to Insights data for third-party users without access to the ControlUp console. While registering in the console is necessary, uploading a CSV file with UPNs can be done with the Login Setup feature in 8.7. Insights will be deprecated soon and, as some customer's security policies can remove accounts if they are not used after a certain amount of time, there is the option of creating a bogus user with an email distribution. There are no limitations on the number of users in ControlUp itself, though some Microsoft licenses may be consumed based on a single AD account.

Error “no more connections can be made to this remote computer” while distributing FSLogix AppMasking Rule from VDA
A user reported an error message they had received while attempting to distribute a single FSlogix AppMasking Rule from one VDA to 30+ others. The potential cause of the issue was suggested to be the number of concurrent file sharing connections being limited in Windows desktop OS as a license limit. The ControlUp support team requested some additional information to investigate the issue. The user mentioned they used an SMB share to host their FSlogix rules and GPOs, and copy them locally during gpupdate.

ControlUp Edge DX Licensing Reclaims and Behavior
A user asked about licensing reclaims and the expected behavior if all licenses were used up. It was confirmed that licenses are freed up when a device is removed from Edge, and the next device enrolled will not check in. If a device is mistakenly deleted, the agent will reregister when it polls again, initiated by the client.

Investigating Delays for Dedicated Citrix MCS VDI
A user reported that all applications on their dedicated Citrix MCS VDI, which has 6xCPU and 64GB RAM for running Bloomberg and other heavy apps, have experienced delay, including mouse delays. It was suggested to check the latency Last metric in the RT console, or the latency metrics via the Session Details report in Insights. RemoteDX and Scoutbees were also mentioned as useful tools to check the endpoints network conditions and latency to the backend servers. A temporary license had been applied for to test these products.

Do you need ControlUp Real Time Agent installed to view the Citrix License Usage report?
This discussion revolves around the Citrix License Usage report, and whether the Real Time agent needs to be installed on the Citrix license server. It was confirmed that it is necessary for on-prem customers, although hard to do for cloud customers. Additionally, triggering the license with the PowerShell module is possible since version 8.6.5, and requires a two step trigger and running the script in the message.
