Creating Workflows to Auto Tag Machines Based on Location
A discussion was had about creating a workflow to auto tag machines based on location, with the trigger being logon or unlock. There is currently no native support for this type of trigger in ControlUp Workflows. The recommended workaround is to create a scheduled flow that runs every 5-15 minutes to update tags based on IP address and location data. Using controlUp One integration or Windows Event alerts were also suggested as alternative methods.

Troubleshooting ControlUp Alert Rules Based on Event ID’s
Some members discussed problems they were having with configuring Alerts Rules based on Event ID's. They discovered that the event was being captured and could be found in the win_event_log index, but the alert was not triggering. Clarifying Scoping Permissions in ControlUp
A user asked for clarification on scoping permissions in ControlUp. They wanted to know if it was possible to target only groups and not tags, and if all groups and tags were targeted by default. Another user confirmed that it is possible to deselect all options in the tags dropdown to target only groups, and that the "Groups OR tags" logic applies when both groups and tags are selected. The documentation will be updated to make this clearer. The relevant information can be found at https://support.controlup.com/docs/dex-platform-account-permissions#limit-permission-scope-to-certain-devices

Choosing the Right ControlUp Agent for Virtualized Domain Controllers
The question was raised about which ControlUp agent to install on virtualized Domain Controllers for monitoring purposes. It was recommended to install the ControlUp VDI Agent due to its merging of agent and Hypervisor data, while the Desktops agent is not as hypervisor aware. Both agents offer different features such as remote control, alerts, script actions, and historical data length. Preferences and technical reasons are discussed.
