Exporting Cache Drive Usage Data Using ControlUp and PowerBI/Excel

ControlUp Academy: Metrics Dashboard Suggestions for Omnissa Horizon Customers

A discussion took place about what metrics an Omnissa Horizon customer may want on a dashboard. Some suggestions were for metrics about pods, connection servers, and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) as well as user access gateway (UAG) metrics and creating custom reports with data collected by ControlUp. There was also mention of creating historical reports and making the process of creating custom reports easier within the ControlUp Analytics feature. The team will gather more information and report back.

Troubleshooting Remote Control on Windows 11 Entra Machines

ControlUp users are discussing the behavior of Windows 11 Entra joined machines when connected to VPN and trying to perform remote control sessions. The upcoming 2.15 agent may resolve these issues and can be tested on lab machines before rollout. The new agent also includes the ability to reconnect through reboot. The reconnect may take up to a minute due to data collection intervals and IP updates.

Troubleshooting Process Memory Usage in ControlUp: Tips and Tricks

A user was having trouble with processes showing as "red" in the console for Memory Working Set, specifically for Outlook.exe. They asked if there was a way to change the 500MB barrier, as this was confusing for 1st line support. Another user suggested looking at the details view in task manager instead of the process view, and also mentioned that stress settings can be adjusted globally for all processes. The user provided a link to a knowledge base article about tuning stress. The original user then shared a screenshot and asked if ControlUp is showing better numbers than the OS. The discussion ended with a humorous remark about not being a memory expert.

Troubleshooting FSLogix in a Citrix Environment

Multiple users discussed a possible issue with Real-time dx and file handles not being released by 2022 servers in a Citrix environment. A similar issue was mentioned where the shell bridge process was hanging onto profiles and causing issues for users. The environment consists of Citrix, FSLogix, and Azure VMs with Windows 2022 Server. The problem is still being investigated and there is a need for visibility to see what is preventing the release of file handles.

Triggering Actions based on Specific Server Connection Failures in ControlUp Real Time Console

A discussion was held about being able to trigger an action based on the number of connection failures for a specific server. It was suggested to add a column in the Real Time Console to display the number of Citrix connection failures, which could then be used to create triggers. The user also asked about improved local host cache monitoring and the possibility of bringing it into the product. The ControlUp support team mentioned some relevant resources and offered to discuss further during an upcoming meeting.

Understanding Traceroute and Missing Hops

A discussion about missing hops in a traceroute was had, with a user providing a possible explanation that some nodes may not allow ICMP ping. It was suggested to use the Windows tracert command to replicate this. Other users chimed in with similar experiences and further clarification on how traceroute works. It was concluded that this can be a temporary issue or it may be due to nodes not allowing ICMP traffic. The example used to demonstrate this was pinging Google, which does not allow ICMP ping. The initial user thanked everyone for their help.
