Generating Email Alerts for VMWare Updates with ControlUp

A user was looking for a way to generate email alerts when a column in the console says "Needs Updating', and to check the status of VMWare servers that may need updating. It was suggested to use an advanced trigger, and once created, to check a test. Additionally, a scheduled trigger can be used to report the status, or Export-CUQuery can be used to dump the data to a CSV file each week. Improving Performance from ControlUp Real-Time Client

A user asked advice on how to help with the real-time client not using a minimum of 1.4 GB RAM, due to the in-ram database the monitors use. It was suggested to connect to the hypervisor and EUC sites only and drill into the machines to connect to the agent. Solve and the web portal are the paths forward, with the ability to open different views in different browser tabs or on multiple screens, as well as stream Session Activity Reports in Solve. The user also asked about the Session Client Report and it was suggested to manage the columns in the presets and to use the ability to share report configurations.

Finding the Root Cause of Blue Screens with ControlUp

A user mentioned the "Top Blue Screen Events by Cause" report in ControlUp which shows event errors that caused the blue screen. Timothy's comment also explained that the users can click on the items in the chart to go directly to the Microsoft documentation for the relevant error. Issues with ControlUp 8.8 Release of IOP Nodes Confirmed

The user had issues with the 8.8 release of IOP Nodes and asked about the latest version. They confirmed that the version they had was the latest, and reported that it was broken and communications errors were present. Other users mentioned that 8.7 had issues with hyphens in server names and that CUADMIN is no longer used in 8.8. Backing-up the 'C:\program files\Smart-x' folder was recommended, and the user was suggested to wait for more information. All users thanked each other for their help.

Gathering Custom Reports with ControlUp Insights

This discussion focused on custom reporting needs and different ways to create and access reports. It was suggested to ask ControlUp for a road map call, and to open a public API as part of the new streaming data project. Insights (on-prem) and PowerShell and Excel were also mentioned as possible ways to create custom reports. Additionally, reports should be stored for one year, rather than having the data in two places, to avoid extra work for users.

Setting an Alert for MS Teams Crashes

A user asked about setting an alert for MS Teams crashes. They tried various settings and changed the operators to “contains.” Another user suggested that the number of hits and platform should be set to 600, 1, 3600 and “all platforms” respectively. After that, the user was able to set the alert. However, the user suggested analyzing data first to avoid false positives. Lastly, the user asked if it was possible to exclude certain errors from the alert description. To solve the issue, they want to run a clear Teams cache script in the event of a real crash.
